Good Light, Crappy Mount
More manufacturers should be making lights with cutoff beam patterns, and the fact that they don't, except for very expensive ones make this light a great value. This doesn't quite have a sharp cutoff, rather it's more of a soft cutoff as they refract most of light with the lens rather than using a specially shaped mirror. The shape is T-shaped, which means this light is good for seeing straight ahead, but not as good for close peripheral visibility (right in front of the bike), although this is not really much of a concern in my opinion. The second lowest setting (300lm) is plenty bright enough for riding in a city as a result.
My problem with this light is that the silicone strap is terrible (as is normally the case) as opposed to a rigid mount. If you're riding in any sort of rough or bumpy path, then it tends to tilt up over time. Also, the button being on the back of the light means that you push the light will and rotate it on your handlebars everytime you turn it on or off, unless you use your whole hand over the light. You can use the separate button, but I prefer not to have all that clutter on my handlebars. In any case, this is annoying because the whole point of a light with a cutoff beam is to not blind people. You position the light correctly once and then never adjust it again. I find that I'm frequently fiddling with it during the ride, not to mention mount and unmounting the light for charging. I may decide to get the ABM05 mount for this light, which would solve most of my problems.
