This JEWELRY Book is a GEM Every COLLECTOR Should OWN
8 of 8 found this helpful An ebayer recently asked me to recommend a book for vintage jewelry collecting. While I've accumulated a large amount of books, the only one I go back to repeatedly is this book by Bell. It's wonderful for MANY reasons, and I was captivated by this book from the first second that I opened it! It not only identifies the jewelry in each historical period, but it describes momentous events and lives of royalty, etc... You'll understand the reason behind jewelry trends. It's truly fascinating.
It's especially useful for Victorian era jewelry, and there are a huge number of pictures. While most are in black and white, I didn't find this to be a hindrance at all. I knew nothing about this era when I purchased the book, and it's been the most incredible resource.
There were many pieces that I sold, and unfortunately had no idea what they were. I later learned all about them from this book. The price guides are extremely helpful. There are also vanity type pieces that are pictured and priced.
There's a section on jewelry hallmarks that's been invaluable, and there's an entire section dedicated to metals. And of course to Bakelite... You'll also find info on costume jewelry, and a section on Mexican jewelry.
One of the most helpful areas of the book for me has been on circa dating clues, and this covers catches, materials, and motifs.
This book is definitely the most comprehensive jewelry book I've ever found! One of the things I really love is that I keep learning every time I open this book. It's massive. In the past I always had a pile of books near me. Now this is normally the only resource I need. Maybe I can save someone a little money, because I don't even want to think of how much I spent on all these jewelry books!

An AMAZING Camera! STEADYSHOT Means No More BLURRY Pics
5 of 5 found this helpful I bought this camera REFURBISHED on ebay for a very reasonable price. The DSC-W90 is their Super SteadyShot, and I was fascinated by the idea of not having to hold my hands perfectly still for every shot. That took too much concentration, and I take so many photos that I shoot quickly and move on.
My last camera was a Kodak, and half the photos I took were blurry, so this camera turned out to be a miracle for me. IT TRULY DELIVERS!! I should note that bigger movements still blur, but not the little accidental ones that occur when you're trying to be still.
I don't quite know what someone does to "refurbish" a camera. But I've had this one for what seems like forever. It looks new, and works like a new camera. Plus, I recall that the price was especially low.
I get bored reading instructions, so I usually skip that part. This camera has been so easy to use that it hasn't been a problem. I've just experimented with the different settings. Everything from the battery recharging to loading pics is a breeze.
My pics must be pretty decent because folks are constantly asking me what camera I use. Well, this is it. I'd be lost without it.
To make this simple, it's the best in my opinion for below reasons:
1. QUALITY OF PHOTOS IS SPECTACULAR. NO COMPLAINTS.
2. EASE OF USE
3. IT'S VERY COST EFFECTIVE (even a brand new one)
4. HAS IMPORTANT STEADYSHOT FUNCTION THAT IMPROVES PHOTOS & SAVES YOU TIME.
Regarding number 4, my favorite, time is money!
Of course it has other features which make it even more desireable.
But for ebay, I know we all care most about photos.
There are many higher end, higher priced cameras out there.
But I feel like I seriously hit the jackpot with this one.
