Yes, it could happen here (did it?)
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a movie JFK wanted made, and it was due to premiere around the time of his assassination. Director John Frankenheimer had already explored the dark world of conspiracy and extremism in The Manchurian Candidate before taking on this plot, revolving around a planned military coup, hatched in the name of 'national security,' to save America from a supposedly weak President. the ongoing decay of our political order in the USA make this movie all the more relevant, which is why I bought it to show in my political science class.
