    Who designed the keyboard?
I bought an Envy 17 3D to replace an HP DV5t (2009 model) that I sold to my sister-in-law. The earlier DV5t was really slick! I was looking for the 1080p screen, and more computing power. So my Envy has 1080p, 3D, and more power as expected. I find it curious that the up and down cursor keys are smaller than the other keys - why did HP compromise on this? The left rear corner of mine runs pretty hot, so I usually keep the rear propped up a bit to improve cooling air flow. Mine had to go to TN for a system board swap after a few days, but within a week, I was using it with no more issues. I blame Apple for the island keyboard since it seems to have started on the Mac. It is not my choice for comfort.

    too many false detections
The sensoris in a room occupied by tractors and trucks. There is nothing larger than a cricket in the room. Still, it produces false alarms too frequently. When the alarm center calls they are challenged to tell me which of our two systems was triggered, unable to tell me the genre of the system so I could figure it out myself, and when my wife cannot provide the safe word within a few seconds they dispatch local law enforcement.

I just want a drive, not a backup system
This drive comes with a "CD partition" that holds an autorun installer for a back up software package. Why Western Digital thinks we need this when Vista and Window 7 include this feature is beyond me. I visited Western Digital's site to try to figure out how to silence the autorun installer. Step 1 - you need need upgrade some other sofware on the drive, but it seemed impossible. Two mail exchanges with their support lead to trying to do the upgrade on another computer. This worked. Step 2 - I was able to download a utility that hides the CD partition (but it still chews up part of the drive space). Elapsed time 3 days. I never have this issue with my 1 TB Western Digital myBook drive. The user documentation is scant, a lot of legal stuff, but not much useful content - one admonition that the drive may overheat - a warning not found in the brochures.
