DIANA ROSS' NEW (OLD) ALBUM IS GREAT. THESE SONGS WERE RECORDED IN 1970 AND 12 OF THE 18 SONGS WERE IN THE ORIGINAL LP. IF A DIANA ROSS RECORD WASN'T AN OVERNIGHT HIT - BERRY GORDY WOULD RUSH ANOTHER ALBUM OR SINGLE OUT. SOME OF DIANA'S BEST RECORDINGS GOT PASSED UP - AN EXAMPLE "I'M STILL WAITING" A SMASH #1 HIT IN ENGLAND WAS PASSED UP IN THE USA (2 VERSIONS ARE IN THIS CD). DIANA IS IN COMPLETE CONTROL OF HER TALENTS AND SOMEHOW MIXES SOUNDING FRAIL, STRONG AND SEXY INTO EACH SONG. SHE MAKES KAREN CARPENTER'S "CLOSE TO YOU" BOTH HIP & SEXY.THERE ARE NO LOSERS IN THIS SET PRODUCED BY DEKE RIVERS, BUT "LONG AND WINDING ROAD" IS ONE OF THE STANDOUTS. THE NEVER RELEASED "WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE REST OF YOUR LIFE?" IS MAGIC. DIANA SINGS AN UNRELEASED " SOMETHING" THE BEATLES SONG IS GIVEN A BIG BAND SOUND, ALTHOUGH NEVER RELEASED TILL NOW - SOMEONE STOLE THE ARRANGEMENT FOR A LATER SINATRA RECORDING. IF YOU'RE ARE INTERESTED IN THIS CD - YOU SHOULD GET IT NOW -IT'S NOT EASY TO FIND AND IN LIMITED EDITION. NO, I DON'T WORK FOR THE LADY - JUST A LOYAL FAN FOR MANY YEARS. Bette Midler Versus Miss Peggy Lee
Two singers couldn't be more different. Peggy is cool and understated and Bette is loud and over the top. Peggy sang Wind Beneath My Wings in 1985, four years before Midler.

One Of PEGGY LEE'S BEST ALBUMS.
Two of Peggy's best albums combined on one cd. The classic Is That All There Is?, Living Is Dying Without You, the greatest recording of I Think It's Going To Rain Today, and Love Story, to name just a few of the highlights. A fascinating mixture of jazz, art songs and songs of the day. She took a few of her standards (Don't Smoke In Bed, My Old Flame, Me And My Shadow and Don't Explain) redid them and they sound even better then the original recordings. She seems very comfortable (not always the case) singing covers of the best pop songs of the 60's. Can't say enough about this album. I'm a huge fan, have at least 15 of her albums, but this is the one I most usually play. Get it before it's out of print.
