I love this camera
I love this camera, it is smaller than the SX110, which I also have, and who ever really shoots at 10 mega pixels with a camera of this grade? So smaller = it fits in your pocket and is easy to maneuver. Photo quality and lens quality are good and the colors great to my eye. I'm not blowing prints up to 14x17 so I don't know how corner distortion might be at that size, but on screen in my computer I am please with the photos and the video. The movie recorder is surprisingly good and the mic picks up sounds very well. I have recorded YouTube uploads and my niece singing opera with orchestra at about row 12 and the sound and video were satisfactory even with lens plus digital zooming. Not as good as with a quality camcorder, but this is the best camera with the most features in this price range. I use it more frequently than my other larger more expense rigs.

dependable multifunction low end - Note LINUX drivers
Decided to try the MFC-240c because I have the brother MFC-5860cn at work on my personal desk, 2 drawers 33.6 fax, good paper handling and printing. This model the MFC-240C has a slower fax 14.4, one paper drawer, fewer pages input capacity in the auto-document feeder, slower PPM but basically it is a good machine for home or low volume scanning, printing, faxing etc. That is why I bought it and use it for home, low volume, no rush. On sale new at Office Depot 6-1-08 for about $60 plus or minus, regularly $99.00. Very satisfactory for home use. Software bundle includes Paper Port SE, great software for scaning and converting to multi-formats including OCR. Linux users can download from Brother.com the LPR and CUPSwrapper drivers here: http://solutions.brother.com/linux/en_us/index.html They work on i386 Ubuntu, but did NOT install on Ubuntu-64 bit for me, I could not get the --force-architecture command to work on Ubuntu-64 Gutsy Gibbon 7.10. Installed nicely running i386 Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.05 on the AMD64 platform with the 32 bit OS. For this and other software issues, I gave up the Ubuntu 64bit OS for the 32 bit OS, and glad I did, end of endless work-arounds. Anyway, nice little multi-function printer, good price, works dependably just below it's claimed speeds (as to all printers etc.). OH beware the generic refill ink cartridge suppliers, none of them, I have found, fit or work on the Brother MFC-240C or MFC-5860m physically won't fit in the printer and don't have the nozzles required. Bulk ink OK, but if you are buying this little MFC, high volume is not an issue or you would upgrade. Buy the Brother cartridges, yield tolerable price intolerable. Cheers!

VelociRaptor - Good Quality
I run 3 velociRaptor drives in 3 diff systems. 74Gb 150Gb & 300Gb All perform well for me and are my best drives. Some say you could raid 7200rpm drives and get just as good performance. But I don't want to run a raid and worry about backup and restore issues from drive images. I don't game so maybe a pair of VelociRaptors in Raid 0 would make time go backwards, but for my office server and for my home video and music editing. I'm pleased and see a big speed increase over 7200 rpm drives. Consider 139 years (1.2M hrs) MTBF. Quiet running. (now I have the regular 10K rpm Raptor drives and they are as noisy as a WWII tank and one has failed on me within 60 days. WD replaced it and it is still ticking about 1 year later.) All you 7200 people, Go 10K VelociRaptor spend the extra bucks and save if you buy them on ebay, you will never go back to slow drives again. You already know that the HDD and the Video are usually the bottleneck in you system. Fix on of those with this drive.
