Was not working at first, had to cut it to make it work.
The alignment between the copper layout and the flex cutout is very bad. Part was not working at first, had to cut a little bit of the side of the FFC-side of the flex to shift it slightly and avoid short circuits, then it worked fine. Given the price it was worth it anyway.

Works as expected
Blue LED always on when plugged, red LED flashes when reading/writing occurs. No need for any driver. Can be ejected like a usb memory stick. Total length about 22 cm/9 inches, cable is a bit stiff and curved sideway.

Simple, clear reading, low battery consumption
Simple, clear reading (good contrast and big numbers good enough for elderly people), and very low battery consumption. I have one outside that has been working on the same battery for more than 3 years and still working, it's showing min of -18°C and max of 42°C. The accuracy is about +-0.5°C or +-0.9°F (deduced by comparing many of these thermometers). Uses one AAA cell. Press the max/min button to toggle between [instant reading/min/max] ... When you reset it, it always come back to °C. Plastic case will turn yellowish if exposed to sunlight, even inside behind a window.
