Far Better Than Aftermarket
3 of 3 found this helpful The Check Engine Light came on my Saturn ION. I scanned the car and found a strange Evap leak code. I also found that after gas fill-ups, that the ION would want to almost die after start-up. I checked out the online forums and everything pointed to purge solenoid. I thought I would go the cheap route and buy an aftermarket solenoid at the local parts store. That didn't fix it. I went on to replace the evap canister, also. That didn't fix it either. I still had the trouble code and the dying starts after fill-ups. I decided to inspect the aftermarket solenoid and found out it wasn't holding a vacuum. So I found an AC Delco solenoid on eBay for about the same price as an aftermarket one. It shipped fast and fixed the problem. No more dreaded Check Engine Light.
