Fun Movie/Poor Audio
This was a fun movie and I was anxious to have it in my collection. The story is about an American business man's daughter who wants him to buy a Scottish castle (complete with a centuries old ghost who must haunt until he makes up for an act of cowardice - sound familiar?). The castle's heir is in financial trouble and must sell as soon as possible. While visiting the castle the daughter encounters not only the shy heir but confuses him with his ghostly "look-alike" who is very bold and very fond of the ladies. The business man offers to purchase the castle for a very low price but cancels the deal until he discovers his competitor has made a much better offer. He buys the castle at a much higher price than his original offer and has it taken apart and shipped to Florida. He hires the heir to come to America to oversee the reconstruction. The ghost awakens to find himself aboard ship on his way to the states and continues his romantic endeavors with the daughter and other ladies. When the other passengers discover what he really is the newspapers get involved and everyone is awaiting the arrival of the ghost, who decides maybe he doesn't want to be "seen" in America... The adventure continues and there is a happy ending. The only issue I had was the poor audio quality of the DVD. It was extremely difficult to understand, even at higher volumes, until I fiddled with the audio adjustments on my tv and that did help somewhat. All in all it is a light, fun film and Robert Donat was excellent in his dual roles as the heir and his ancestor. I hope they re-release this film with enhanced and corrected audio. I will repurchase if they do.
