Great pedal for the price.
I bought this for our drummer as I am not a drummer but I own 2 drum kits for my studio. I also have the previous version of the 9XXX series Gibraltar double kick pedal on one kit.
Our drummer loves them both, but this one seems to be better made. Plus it saves the bass drum hoop from getting trashed as it has medium hard rubber pads on the hoop clamp. The only disappointment is that it didn't come with a drum key although like the previous version it does have a clip for one.
Our drummer plays a lot of double kick and he really likes the responsiveness of these pedals. He plays barefoot and I keep it cold in the studio and because of the thick paint coating his feet don't freak out as much when he first starts playing. The previous version of this pedal doesn't have that thick paint and his feet freeze when he first plays on them.
Gibraltar 9707Tp-Dp Turning Point Hi-Hat Stand With Hi-Hat Clutch - 9707TP-DP

Ultra heavy duty
I use 18" hi-hats with this stand, the speed and responsiveness is like using a 6XXX with 13" hats.
I tried using a lighter duty stand for the 18's but this is the only one that has the muscle for it. The 18" hats work really well for metal and jazz too, but I needed something with a quick response with the extra weight of the bigger hats. This unit handles it with no problem.

Excellent stand for the price
1 of 1 found this helpful Considering that GC and SA locally had this unit at almost twice the price I'd say I stole it. Rock solid stand using to hold 12" and 14" Mapex toms and also put a Gibraltar boom cymbal arm on it for a 22" Ping Ride. Nearly as stable as my Gibraltar rack in my studio, we use this one to play out.
Not much difference between this and the 9XXX series other than weight really. Save the money on the 6XXX hardware and spend the savings on better shells is my motto.
