Look! NO hands!!
I bought this because i was looking for something to play with no hands while I play drum set or my washbaord.. I didn't want to use any kind of headset just for something so small.
I took a round file and filed notches on the top and sides and now it stays in my mouth easily without falling out.
I would highly recommend this instrument for any drummer or percussionist who wants to play kazoo at the same time.
I'm not sure why, but it seems all the metal and plastic kazoos we're designed to slide out of your mouth!

Must have for suitecase kick drum
If you are building a suitecase kick drum and not installing a drum head, this beater is the best soumd that you can get.
I experimented with lots of different materials, but this one sounded better than anything that i tried.
Also, if you are plannimg to buy a suitecase to build a kick drum, best to buy this first and use it to pick the best sounding suitecase.
Remember to hit it where the kick would normally hit it.

Not recommended for low volumes
I recently purchased a Hartke KB-12 and wanted to share my opinion.
I should point out that although i am a well seasoned drummer, i am not a seasoned bass player.
Upon taking it out of the box, ot seems surprisingly light.
Almost too light, for claiming to be 500 watts.
That being said, it is also surprisingly loud and clear.
It also seems to have good tone variation and even works as a PA or monitor.
However..........
After playing for a few minutes, the fan kicks on, which in my ipinion, is much too loud for playing a small gig where y9u sometimes need quiet.
I pulled out my db meter and clocked it.
Before turning it on, my db meter was at 44db.
After then fan came on, i slowly increased to 50db.
In other words, itmis as loud as a noisy PC with dual fans, but quieter than an x-box 360.
If you want an amp for low volume gigs, and there is a fan on stage anyway, likely no one but you will even notice.
If you require dead silence between breaks in a song, you will be frustrated.
As for recording, the sounds tends to be unnoticable for the most part, but i should also point out my room is decked out with lots of Auralex foam panels.
I would have probably given this 5 stars, had i known about the loud fan noise before i purchased, but i didn't, so,i was dissappointed.
Hope that helps
