Best Russian textbook series ever
I used the A-LM (Audio-Lingual Method) Russian series of textbooks in high school, and to this day even after taking college-level Russian, this is the best series of Russian textbooks I've ever seen. It is sad to see it go out of print (though with references to the former Soviet Union it is understandable that it is a little dated). Over the course of three textbooks, Liapunov's textbooks present a perfectly sequenced, progressive treatment of Russian grammar and vocabulary that is perfect for the individual learner. Every lesson introduces just the right amount of new reading material, grammar, and vocabulary, and every lesson builds on previous lessons in a gradual, logical manner. Plus the fonts and handwriting samples are the best Russian fonts I've seen in any Russian textbook, and the typography is beautiful and stunning. If you make it through all three textbooks, you will have a strong foundation in Russian language. Whole-heartedly recommend!

Awesome, rock-solid machine perfect for use as a server with zero downtime
This Sun Ultra 27 Model B27 Workstation is a killer machine. Despite the processor being several years old, the processor's four cores, ample L2 caches, and relatively fast front-side bus result in high performance for the most common applications. The machine runs exceptionally quietly, and my machine has been constantly on for months and has never needed a reboot except when installing a completely different operating system. This machine is perfect for use as a server; I've used it as a server running (at various times) OpenIndiana, NetBSD, and FreeBSD, and it just crushes building software from source under the latter two (using pkgsrc under NetBSD or Ports under FreeBSD). Plus you are in for a treat when you open the case and see the best, clearest servicing and upgrading diagrams on the inside I've ever seen any manufacturer provide. It really is too bad Sun Microsystems is no more; I love this machine and would highly recommend!
