But I'm A Cheerleader-AMP
2 of 2 found this helpful I'm not one for comedies, but I gave up quite and few chuckles with this completely sarcastic and funny take on homophobics trying "correct" gay behavior.
A highschool cheerleader walks into an intervention which includes her parents, friends, and her perfect boyfriend. She's sent off to a "repair" school with other young people to get "straightened out"- Hysterical! The girls wear pink and guys in blue and a male dressed RuPaul as an instructor! Our cheerleader confronts herself as a gay teenager and falls in love while in school. The hidden affair finds trouble but at graduation a cheer motivates a positive choice for this gay couple.
Great acting by all. Funny, enjoyable, excellent writing, and great analogies. Enjoyable.

Bar Girls
1 of 1 found this helpful I like this movie. It's a witty reflection of intelligent women seeking love and partnership.
Most of the setting is in a lesbian bar and centers on a very smart cartoonist. Turmoil and exchanging of partners seems comical, but the movie is very realistic with the relationships. The cartoonist meets a devorcee and they hit it off well. They review past relations ships in a bit of narration for the audiance and keeps us involved in the story in the same manner. The couple move in together and begin sharing thoughts, irritations, etc. On an occassion of visiting the commonly attended bar, a less than ethical police cadet puts the moves on the Sweetie and the glove are on. Love's insecurities, smothering, and controling downfall takes over and the split and heartache sets in. Meanwhile the cartoonist has a straight girlfriend who decides that she want to sleep with a woman. She becomes very successful in a relationship with a bar regular that is also a good friend of the main character. This couple is my favorite in the movie and send rather effective and realistic values.
Memberable lines in the script. That is the best attribute of the movie. The actors show excellent potential! The writer truly taps into loves' yearning and expresses, quite well, emotions that sometimes seem unexpressable.
The lack of high quality sets, cameras, and lighting is the movie's downfall, otherwise it would be much more highly rated. I've watched this movie, at least, six times and enjoy it everytime.
