Early Byrds catch my attention with these great tracks from 1964!
This great CD set offers another side to the Byrds, even different from their later albums, which went into the country/western and country/rock progressions. Their first 3 albums, which were the pioneering of the folk rock sound, are what most folks identify the most with the Byrds. This boxed set, which is an extension of the original 1969 release Preflyte, offers much more than the original, with several versions of most songs, along with some solo style recordings by David Crosby. These are recordings from 1964, and It really shows in a comprehensive way just how the guys worked and developed their sound for the first album.
Many songs are evidently influenced by the Beatles, and other British invasion era groups, but you also have here some acoustic/unplugged versions of many of the early song, along with some instrumental tracks, and some neat surprises. I have played these CDs almost continuously for the past month, and just can't get enough of it. Highly recommended, if you love 1960s pop, and a must have for a Byrds fan!

Great 60s sound like a cross between the Dave Clark 5 and the Beatles. This group opened for the Beatles on their last tour.
Great Album!
