Logitech Harmony Companion Home Control - 8 Devices (Black) (915-000239) - NEW

Better than expected
The Logitech Harmony Hub and Companion Remote work well together. The remote communicates with the Hub via RF, so there is no line of sight as with other universal remotes.
Buttons have a nice feel to them so that you know when they've triggered. They feel like they will last a while.
Connected with Amazon Echo Dot, and can voice control my setup to a large degree.

Better aperture than most kit lenses
When choosing a lense to keep on a camera, one must choose between sharpness, focal length range (zoom), and aperture. The more of each you get in one lense the more it costs. This lense has a decent zoom range and a wider apature than most entry level kit lenses. I paired this with a D3500 (entry level) camera body, and I get a combination that can have low enough depth of field to blur backgrounds and focal length range good enough to frame shots well for most home uses.
