Pioneer receiver
1 of 1 found this helpful As expected from Pioneer (by me anyway), this proved to be a top notch electronics item. So far, I have yet to be disappointed with any single Pioneer product I've purchased, from laserdisc players, VCRs and amps of many years ago, to DVD units and this new 5.1 channel amp. My old 65" widescreen Pioneer Elite set from 1998, CRT rear projector, is still going strong too. If you can afford it, as they do tend to be higher priced usually, my suggestion is to buy Pioneer. However, this brand new amp was only $99, as it was an older model, perhaps a closeout type. Well worth the price, it has the best separation of channels in it's decoding I've heard, including my high-priced Denon that I gave to my son. Decoding of DTS, Dolby Digital (AC3), and even older analog Dolby pro-logic are fantastic, on this lesser-priced Pioneer unit. My older LDs that have Dolby Digital are refreshingly sharp and clear. For older standard stereo and mono analog soundtracks, there are simulated surround enhancement functions that give these tracks a full-bodied listening effect. All in all, a great buy.
