"Air Raid" is the second album by the Chicago-based free jazz trio Air (not to be confused with the French ambient-rock duo of the same name). It may sound somewhat cacophonous at first, but multiple listens help you appreciate the little nuances. This is also a showcase for bassist Fred Hopkins, who had a busy 1976 between this album and his two collaborations with David Murray ("Low Class Conspiracy" and "Flowers for Albert").

I'll be succinct...
This was a Christmas present for my sister. She was pleased.

He's With The Cosmos
Being a big fan of Big Star, a few months ago I decided to visit eBay in search of this CD, the only solo album Chris Bell recorded before his sudden 1978 death. As it turned out, I got my money's worth; not only did I get this disc for a sweet deal, but I also felt blessed in that I uncovered a lost pop-rock masterpiece. Songs like "You and Your Sister," "Fight at the Dinner Table," and the mindblowing title track serve as an unforgettable reminder of a gifted singer-songwriter that never got his due. The Beatles-meets-Stax sound that served as Big Star's trademark is also noticable on this disc. No bones about it, "I Am The Cosmos" is a bargain in so many ways it's almost incalcuable.
