QSC CX502 Two Channel Power Stereo Amplifier

Just another 500 Watt Amp
I think its over priced, and over rated. It works great like any other 500watt amp, in fact, it constructed using the same parts using the same technology. So paying more just to have the QSC name on it...

2N5631 Bipolar NPN Transistor 20A 140V 200W new mfr Solid State

For the price, it is not bad
I have few different transistor testers. I bought 25 of these 2N5631 transistors for my testings. They had DC gain from 8 to 165 hFE.. 4 of them had 8 hFE under their spec. 10 of them in the range of 20-30 hFE, and 8 of them between 40-50 hFE. 3 of them were between 90-165 hFE. with the cap around 540 to 590mv. The one thing I didn't like was the labeling. Like 7 of them were MSC, and 8 were BSC, and 10 of them were SI.. I am sure they are from the same company. It just look awkward to see different labeling on them. For the price, they function pretty well. I selected the one with the 40-50 hFE and I put them on channel1 of my Crown DC300A and they work good as the original Crown parts. this was being compared to Channel2 which still contain the 3990 Crown transistors.

LM3886T to the limit
Back in college, I was getting a bunch of these LM3886T samples from National. They were easy to get working with few parts. The one thing that surprised me most about these little suckers, was how much power they were producing. I had a 42-0-42, 150VA power supply to energize one of them, on a 2ohm speaker. It was working fine, but gotten much hot on a small heatsink than I would like it to be. But after getting a larger heatsink, the thing ran just cool without a fan. I did some research online, saw a bunch of people worrying about the heatsinker size. but it wasnt that bad. The other think was people were concerned of the voltage exceeding +-35volts and low impedance than 8ohm, I wasnt sure why. Just got 40 these, worrying that they were fake stuff, because the logo and the marking sure dont look like the old ones from National. But after testing them out, they were comparable to the old one I'd gotten back in college days.
