An ideal overall camera and perfect for eBay photos.
2 of 2 found this helpful This review will be a Jenny Craig type of review, light on the "calories"! I own this model particularly for taking photos for my eBay sales. It has more features than I'll ever use but I don't need all of the feautes for eBay, just basic photos. It is small and light. It has more megapixels than necessary but they come in handy as I reduce the photo details with Picasa. It has an electronic viewfinder which I use 90% of the time. The flash is perfect. Its macro allows the lens to almost touch the item for those tiny details. It allows the use of a D.C. adaptor to save on batteries. You can, if you so desire, see the photos on your TV if its screen is larger than your monitor. It has stereo microphones although I don't need 'em. Its 12X optical zoom really comes in handy.
All in all, I am totally satisfied with the camera and if it should fail I would replace it with the same model. Although I use it strictly for eBay photos should my Canon SX20 IS fail me I wouldn't hesitate to use the S3 IS. It's a great little camera.

Harmony Central - Guitar Picker's Reference
1 of 1 found this helpful At 70 I cannot now remember how I got interested in the Louvin Brothers. While in the Air Force and stationed at Abilene AFB (renamed Dyess AFB) in 1956 In late 1960 I was introduced to country music on the radio via Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Faron Young, Kitty Wells, The Everly Brothers, etc. Perhaps I also heard the Brothers. The Top 40 groups introduced me to harmony but it was the Everly Brothers that introduced me to duet harmony.
In 1960 I bought the Louvin Brothers Capitol LP, "Ira & Charlie Louvin - a tribute to The Delmore Brothers." I instantly fell in love with the beautiful harmony, the catchy songs, and the fantastic musicianship centered around the lead guitar playing. I learned every song by heart and found myself whistling them regularly and I still can. I dubbed the LP onto an audiocassette and every once in a while I would listen to it. Not lately as much as in the past but sort of "annually."
As I've done with many of the LPs I used to have, every once in a while I would do a search on google to see if any of them had been released on CD and eventually I found the Brothers CD in various websites but preferring a bargain I passed on them. Then, in early December 2008 I did another search and this time there was a good deal on eBay and I bought the CD in Mint condition with the booklet which is chock full of information.
Listening to the CD turned out to be a whole new listening trip because the digital sound is superior to the analog LP and after the first straight through listening, I also played the CD on shuffle and it is such a great freedom being able to not know which song is going to play next.
A lot of people swear by the sound of vinyl giving it descriptive terms that exist only in the head since there is no way that vinyl is as good or better than the clean, full-range sound of digital reproduction. Sounds that can hardly be heard from a vinyl source which is restricted and drastically changed from what really was heard in the recording studio (or whereever), spring out like a spotlight in the dark! The quiet background from which the music emerges, no pops, no clicks, no surface noise, just pure, unadulterated music. Instruments sounds as if they're in the room with you giving you a private performance.
And when you hear the quality of the vocals, the realism of the instruments, the little fills in the background, you just can't beat this CD for a total listening experience. There is nothing to criticize about the singers, the songs, the music. Just wonderment since you don't hear performance like this any longer unless the recording studio performs magic with what's been recorded.
I don't know what the Delmore Brothers sounded like but the Louvin Brothers did them proud in these recordings and Jimmy Capps should have become a guitar "god." I never considered Eric Clapton that great a guitarist, let alone a "god" and I'm sure Jimmy could play rings around Eric. The best guitarists seem to always stay in the background, such as Jimmy and Nokie Edwards of The Ventures. These guys are guitar "gods."
Whether you are a country music enthusiast or not, you should listen to this CD to appreciate a rare moment in music.
