Intel Core i7-4790 3.60GHz SR1QF Processor Socket 1150 Quad Core Desktop CPU

Great upgrade component

Replaced my i5 4460 with this. Works great in my dinky h81 mobo since RAM costs so much it was worth it for me. Slight increase in gaming fps paired with an AMD r390x (rebadged and OC'd 290), but noticeable bump in video transcoding with handbrake and virtualization. For comparison's sake this processor (non-K) is a bit superior to a stock ryzen 2400G, but falls short of stock ryzen 1600/2600s. Major caveat is this is a haswell refresh chip from 2014 with limited upgrade paths, so choose wisely.

good cpu at good price

I upgraded from a 3700x. Works great! If you are buying for gaming only then save some money and go with a 5600x.
