Powerful Coltrane!
Meditations is a powerful album that was performed live with a line up consisting of coltrane on tenor and percussion (in the left channel), mccoy tyner on piano, jimmy garrison on bass, elvin jones on drums (in the right channel), rashied ali on drums (in the left channel), and pharoah sanders on tenor, tambourine, and bells (in the right channel). This is quite an interestingly mixed group of the classic quartet and late period coltrane. Meditations serves as a continuation of A Love Supreme, but is a lot more intense- mad tambourine-ing and high intensity, continuous playing by sanders and coltrane makes this album a very powerful, MAYBE TOO POWERFUL!, piece of music by an interesting group. The dual percussionists are quite an interesting addition to the group also, elvin jones contributes much power in his drumming whereas ali keeps the listener occupied with poly- rhythms and what not! overall- this album is not for everyone, mainly those with a taste for the later quartet recordings will enjoy this- SO YOUVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Ornette at his peak!
This album captures Ornette performing at the peak of his career in 1965. He is captured on this second volume of performing at the golden circle accompanied by a skilled group and he switches off fro alto to violin and trumpet during the first track. Over 40 minutes of powerful free jazz!

sunny! hey ha ho
if you like sunny murray, you will enjoy this album. He is accompanied by jacques coursil, jack graham, byard lancaster, and alan silva. These boys are having a rip-roaring good time, playing some incredibly spooky music. not much to say
