Excellent album

Thea Gilmore is one of the strongest voices in folk rock today. A true heir to the likes of Dylan and Cohen and with Avalanche she delivers her masterwork. Brilliant, biting and often subversive lyrics which you will find yourself humming along to, whatever your political leanings, because her songwriting is so catchy and infectious. Mixed in with the insightfully cynical (anti) pop songs are some really sad and melancholy beautiful ballads. Thea's voice is lovely, while still maintaining a cool and aloof quality which suits the subject matter she tackles on this album beautifully. This might be a flawless album and is certainly a very important piece of new millenium music that more people should hear!
