A TRUELY SUPURB PERFORMANCR.
This performance is one of the finest in my recorded opera collection which numbers in the hundreds. Sills, and Verrett astonish in their expressive, fluid coloration. Stuart Burrows displays one of the most beautiful tenor voices I ever experienced. Patricia Kerns has an unusually expressive and beautiful contralto voices. Finally and not least, Paul Plishka throws caution to the wind and turns in one of the best Henry VIII th vocal performances ever committed to disc.

Well recorded opera recording,but damaged.
Disc one was fine. Disc two had numerous skips.in response, I polished the disc with a designated cd/DVD cloth wipe to no avail.otherwise, the original sound engineering, to my ears, was exceptional for the 1950's- very exceptional.

EXEMPLARY PERFORMANCE!!!
This performance posseses incredible immediacy. It literally leaps out of the grooves as they used to say. Theresa Stitch Randall's Liu is one of the strongest portrayals of this character I have ever heard aided by stong vvocal technique and golden tone.
