This is an old Irish classic - a feel good movie which was a favourite of the director and all that took part in it
1 of 1 found this helpful The actual print was not up to expectation. I had accidentally given my copy to the op shop so had to buy a new one. I was disappointed in the quality. My original version was on VHS and had weathered dozens of viewings over more than 40 years. The extras were well worth viewing except that the best one was faulty and I reluctantly gave up watching it.
The story line- a simple romantic comedy that had perfect casting and glorious Ireland as a background. It had a love story, personality conflicts,gentle quirky Irish humour, and a fight to end all fights with no blood on the ground. Not a fan of John Wayne myself but he was perfect in this role.Maureen O'Hara is gorgeous and some famous old Irish actors doing what they did best.
I used to wonder why I loved the movie and was surprised and delighted to find that it was a real family affair awash with the real relatives of many of the stars plus the director all taking part.Perhaps that gave it its special quality
