Best for travel and activities, total freedom

After finishing two OM-2 analog cams and two excellent, non waterproof, finepix compacts on my journeys I went for something sturdier. The dust and humidity is what finished my analogs and the water and occational knocks is what did in the finepix´s. Here I have a camera protected from all that and holds opprox. 30 gb of storage (extra memorycards) and with a mini charger and extra battery only packs the same footprint as two packs of cigg. By using the scn programs I get excellent results and because of size and sturdiness I can bring it everywhere and get even better pictures than before because I can go for opportunitys I would have missed before because of concern for the camera. I always use a floatable cam.strap when I´m in the water though. Not easy to retract this if dropped in a very deep setting. If I have to get a new one I´d go for this or the olympus tough 8000
