Realistic Metalic effect from a paint
3 of 3 found this helpful Alclad is the closest thing to looking like metal you can get with a paint. It needs to be airbrushed though, no brush painting with this paint. Try to avoid masking Alclad, it has a tendency for the tape to lift the paint, that is a drawback and applying a varnish will tone down the metallic effect. Make sure, if you have to mask over it, that you tone down the tackiness of the tape by placing it on you clothes or skin several times.
However, if you want a realistic metallic effect on your subject, this is the best paint I have found.

Best laquer primer for airbrushing
The only white primer I use. Goes on easy and dries hard. Will feather out when sanded and is extremely durable. It can be sanded to a beautifully smooth surface, almost to the point of not needing white paint as a top coat (though I would definitely recommend a top coat). I find all the alclad primers, black, grey and white extremely high quality.
