VDH walks us through the development of warfare in the Ancient world.
VDH is an accomplished Classical scholar and military historian of some renown.He discusses in depth the method of waging war through out the Ancient Greek world and the political contexts that gave rise to the changes in ancient warfare from the Athenian and Spartan hoplite to the gigantism of the Hellenistic period.Clearly written by a master of the subject and well worth reading.Spoiler alert:VDH is no admirer of Alexander the Great!
