Good, but for rail shooter fans only or sega cd completists
I'm one of those weird people who enjoys FMV and enjoys rail shooters. I think microcosm is a beautiful game, panzer dragoon was epic. Lethal enforcers, ground zero texas, soul star, rebel assault, etc. A/X 101 is a fun game, though not the best of the bunch. Microcosm has more weapons, more interesting fmv, more baddies. Starblade has more baddies and more stuff to destroy, a bit quicker paced. The story is done through cut-scenes throughout and takes a decent portion of the time and really advances the plot quite ell. The baddies feel a little sparse though, and most require a few shots to kill. There is a charge shot ability which helps. When I played it a long time ago, it seemed very difficult. But the last time I played it I completed the game on the first run in about 45 minutes. I think the trick was having an auto-fire controller which can fire faster than the normal repeat fire is capable of, so you can actually destroy enemy ships fairly fast with auto fire without needing to use the charge shot. A/X 101 is about mid ground. It's not bad, but doesn't really stand out. It's a must for a rails shooter collector, fmv shooter collector, or sega cd collector. Anyone else I'd say pick up starblade or soul star or panzer dragoon first.
