Good quality cheap art supplies
1 of 1 found this helpful These washable markers are actually quite amazing. Pair them up with strathmore coldpressed watercolor paper, and they just shine! I picked up my first crayola set in a supermarket for $4.99... as a professional artist, I didn't think much at the time, other then they were cheap... but working with them, is a whole other story.. check out what I have done with them on I n s ta gram protean1919 all pieces I've don with them have been marked.. but in reality, I've used them in almost all of my works... they are a great tool for any watercolor artist to use.. just note, they work a lot better on the cheaper papers... not for excess use on arches...

Princeton brush set
These brushes seemed really good when I first put them to use. They came recommended by other watercolor artists, I needed new brushes, so I gave these a try. Bottom line is the same with these as anything else: you get what you pay for. They do hold water and pigment extremely well, so for wash brushes these are perfect. However I noticed a sever degradation in the tips even two paintings in, and now at around ten paintings in with them, the points are all but blunt round tips. I also purchased a size 0 from the same line at the same time as the set, with the same results. The brushes are comfortable, and as I said, are useful when doing washes, but the fine line capabilities I bought some of these brushes for just simply does not hold up. My advice would be to save up a bit more money, and go with a better brand that will serve you longer and better. I have quite a few “Black Velvet” silver series that have served me quite faithfully for years. And they were not that much more.
