Steel or graphite, I love these clubs!
2 of 2 found this helpful Callaway S2H2 irons are decades old now, but they still get my vote as one of the best cast head designs ever produced. Shots are crisp and penetrating, the spin on the greens is as good or better than newer models, and the solid sound and feel of a well struck shot is indescribable. It makes you want to hit more of them. Callaway got these right.
I'm presently experimenting with graphite shafts to ease the impact on an arthritic left wrist, and was lucky enough to find this nearly new set with graphite shafts on ebay. I didn't hesitate, although my friends will continue to tease me about my "antique" golf clubs. I am pleased to report that the graphite shafts do, in fact, ease the shock on the hands and wrists with only a slight reduction in feel, and the S2H2 iron heads hit just as good as ever.
I have not identified any gain or loss in accuracy thus far. Distance with graphite seems about the same, maybe incrementally longer. The price was great also, which was a plus but not the point. The minute I find clubs that hit better, I will buy them.
I'm not the only one who thinks so. Our club hires local teenagers as part time summer help. One evening last summer a young man, a starting member of the college golf team, asked to borrow my 7 iron (Memphis 10 shaft) to hit several loose balls from the tee area out onto the range. His first swing, a solid 'Thwack!', and a long, whistling shot well down range, stopped him cold. "Man, these feel GOOD! Who makes these?" He had the club turned up, looking at the manufacturer's stamp on the head.
Enough said. Yes, they do. He has access to the best on the market, and I had to tell him the club was older than he was.

Upscale Clip
Nice fit and finish. Material looks to be far sturdier than the normal run of generic metal. I've actually had several of the ordinary clips break. This one looks far more durable.

Great replacement wheels.
Replaced the two damaged lower wheels on my Total Gym 1000. Perfect fit, now rolling freely again. I now have two spare wheels for when I need them the next time.
