Upgrade your old laptop
This was pretty low cost, and the right form factor so I ordered it to see if it would work in my older Toshiba Satellite L305 laptop even though this was originally for a Dell PC.
It plugged right in (you have to remove the keyboard to do the swap, but no other disassembly is required) and the antenna cables snapped into the connectors on the board.
The laptop, which has been upgraded to Windows 10, was connected to my network with an Ethernet cord, so it was already online when I started it even though the card did not yet have a driver. Windows found and installed a driver for the card automatically. It worked perfectly, and now my laptop has 802.11n WiFi. (the card that came in the laptop when it was new was only the older and much slower 802.11g)

Solid workstation
HP workstations are much, much better PCs than a regular desktop computer. These used workstations make and excellent high end business desktop. Fan noise is audible but not terrible. This would not be a good choice is you want a really quiet home PC

Cheap power
Workstations like this are built to last and built to be stable. The year to year advance in processors has slowed down (almost halted in fact) making a 2-3 year old high end computer a great option. Like most workstations this S30 has error correcting memory, excellent cooling with very quiet fans, lots of memory capacity, a beefy high efficiency power supply, and room for the largest of video cards and 3-4 hard drives. If you have room for a full size tower, these are a super deal.
