Beware of NOS rotary valves
These old new stick valves have been sitting on the shelves so long, the rubber inside has rotted and they don’t work.

Worth a look if you fancy a C636. Sound probably ok for a large layout in a large space, will drown you out in small spaces.
My loco is DCC. The look, finish and dimensions of this locomotive are great. Initially it ran very rough, sputtering like a DC locomotive with dirty wheels or track, even though I had cleaned the wheels and had clean track. After some patience with nudging it around the track awhile and getting some run time in it eventually broke in and now runs without a sputter, even at very slow speeds. Speed control and lights are good. The sound is nice, but the volume is very loud, especially the diesel volume. Adjusting master volume cv quiets the horn and bell but doesn’t affect the prime mover much. Trying to adjust individual sound cv’s has limited to no success. The final compromise became having a prime mover volume still a little louder than I would like with barely audible horn and bell.
