Pentax K-3 Digital SLR Camera Body, Black {24 M/P}

Proven performer; cost-effective

The camera is built on essentially the same platform as the K-7 (which I also own) and K-5. The reason for "upgrading" is that the K-3 has higher resolution (24 vs. 16 MP) and much better low light performance. Functionally, the cameras are the same--and rugged as hell. (My K-7 has been dropped multiple times and functions as well as the day I first bought it. Expect that the K-3, although purchased new, will be around for quite a while).

Folds up into compact form factor

Prefer this to the older model (which is also very good) but which doesn't fold up. Also, I could readily find adapters for the B50 mount, and 63mm mount making it quite versatile.
