- *****- Feedback left by buyer.More than a year agoVerified purchaseItems as described, fair price, but need to package items with no boxes better. For a $20 shipping cost - I would expect more. Cars wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap with ends open. Some foam noddle's no protection for couplers. (2) cars have couplers knocked off, parts in bottom of box.

Great price, lots of options (need to do a little work)
1 of 1 found this helpful The price is right and the options on this decoder are many. I own three of these so far and will be buying more.
UPDATE: February 2017 - I now have around 40 of these! (Like I said, I'll be buying more)
5 prime mover options - EMD 567(non-turbo), 645(turbo) and 710(turbo) - ALCO 244 and the FDL-16.
These are not your grandfather's Tsunamis though. They are new decoders. Support for CVs 5 and 6 is now provided. CVs have been moved around and there is no reverb now. The full documentation is provided on Soundtraxx's web site.
One really nice thing is that the decoder body is SMALL! It can fit in tight places where the standard Soundtraxx decoders can't. Be prepared for a little work installing it. It's not plugnplay. I've been soldering them into NMRA 8 pin plugs and installing them that way. The decoder comes with a card showing the pins and what wire needs to go where. It's also possible to directly wire it in an engine. Additionally, I've taken an 8 to 9 pin converter from Digitrax, cut the 9 pin plug off and soldered the wires to the remaining wires coming from the 8 pin plug. So, as you can see, there are options but just be prepared for a little work. With enough demand I think Soundtraxx may provide a standard plug option in the future.
This is a good deal, a good price and good sound!!

Perfect match
This blue is a perfect match for the Proto 2000 GP 38-2 lightening stripe. It is a gloss paint so you'll need dull cote if you want that look. It is a very close match for the new Athearn 38-2 and 39-2 (actually close enough).
I want to also mention that the Badger D&H Gray that supposedly goes with this blue is WAY TOO DARK! It almost appears black. I spray painted automotive primer gray over this gray and it was a decent match., not perfect but very close. So, as far as that goes, your call. Try it, you may like it.

Great engine
Bowser did the job with this engine. I am very pleased with it. It takes a 21 pin decoder and even though Bowser recommends the LOK sound decoder, I recommend the TCS WOW since it has the ALCO 251 prime mover. The only hassle I had (and it was a very small hassle at that!) was fitting a speaker. The mother board takes a miniature 2 pin speaker plug-in. The only manufacturer I know of is MRC with a 28mm speaker. This is too wide for the shell!! Digitrax makes an oblong speaker (about 2 inches long) that fits perfectly. The hassle I was talking about is I had to go to an RC Model store and buy a 2 pin miniature female plug to attach to the speaker. 5 minutes later I was done. Boy, it is also loud!! I ran it on our club layout at a mall and the horn was clearly audible above the crowd noise.
I highly recommend this engine. Bowser, keep up the good work!!!!!!!!
UPDATE JUNE 2016 - I told you I really liked this engine. I liked it to the point I bought another one (road # 3002) I put the same decoder in it and man!!! do they look and sound good in a consist!!!
