Not as good as others in series
I got this Nature Recording disc because I have others in the series: thunderstorm, birdsong, and ocean. All of these feature natural sounds recorded at their source. Sadly, the Yellowstone disk had hokey new-age music on top of the natural sounds. It didn't work for me, and out it went to the dumpster.

Classic Beethoven, modest but immortal Von Karajan set
1 of 1 found this helpful This is the classic 1963 recording of Von Karajan's Beethoven cycle., on Deutsche Grammophon's "Collectors" series of budget box set re-releases. So, '90s remastering, but the same good sound as when I listened to the LPs way back when. You can get a lot fancier for your money -- there's a 2016 remastering of the tapes that is available for about $35, and a BluRay Audio transmogrification of that remastering that will set you back $90. But at $20, this simple CD set is still a very good deal.

Not quite soup
Even with good casting for the soloists, the sound is murky and Mozart's additions are difficult to discern. When I heard this arrangement last, the flutes, clarinets, and horns were exuberant and practically overran the score. No such joy here.
