Canon S30 - it is broken
2 of 3 found this helpful I loved this camera until it broke. It won't turn on when I open the lens cover. I tried everything I could think of - changed battery, changed the internal button battery, took it apart, put it back together, searched the internet for people with the same problem. I discovered that this camera has a very COMMON PROBLEM - it will break, whether it is 1 year old or 5 years old, because of the lens cover door which is also the on/off switch. Something inside breaks, you hear rattling, then eventually it won't turn on anymore. Since it costs a fortune to have a technician fix it, it's not worth fixing. So sad, it's such a nice camera.
