DID Napoleonic Series 15th The King's Hussars George 1/6 Figure
    Feb 11, 2016
Great plumage from an interesting era, but has issues
I say "plumage," because that's what many of the military uniforms before the 20th century remind me of--the colorful augmentations male animals use in the wild (I suspect half the men who have ever volunteered for military service have done so for the outfits). The Napoleonic Era was full of lovely and vibrantly colored examples--and this DiD figure does a great job of highlighting this. George of the 15th Hussars (looking like Sean Bean in his "Sharpe" series) looks handsome and striking once he's all put together; it does take some patience and a bit of wrangling to get the straps, belts, pants, jackets, and gloves on. The reason why this beautiful figure doesn't rate five stars has to do with George's boots. I'm not sure what they're made of (some kind of suede-like fabric), but almost as soon as I took the figure out of the box, the shiny, black layer over top of them began to flake off and rub onto his white pants. Then, the bottom of the boot came unglued entirely. While George looks great on display, the boots should have been made better or of a different material.
