The infrared temperature gun works well,...

The infrared temperature gun works well, and is easy to use. It provided temperature checks during heat-treating of a plane blade. I was able to judge, by the temperature, the point at which I could check for the blade losing its magnetism. The blade had lost its magnetism, and was ready to be quenched. Very useful product.

Installation is simple. On my high-traff...

Installation is simple. On my high-traffic workbench, I first planed a 1/2-inch wide groove, to recess the steel tape. I needed to epoxy a small portion, to keep the tape flat. I then applied several coats of Helmsman Spar Varnish, to protect the tape and to keep it down, out of harm's way. That's essentially putting a plastic layer over the tape. The inch/cm scales are very easy to read, and this tape will add convenience to my workbench.
