One of the Best
1 of 1 found this helpful I was actually at the Metropolitan Opera when this performance was taped, and it stood out at the time as one of the best I had seen in 25 years of opera-going. It was wonderful then, but this video is actually a better viewing experience. Having the advantage of being able to closely examine the characters' interaction brings to light just how well this production was directed, and how finely tuned the performances were. The last act, is emotionally devastating - - the result of the careful development of the characters that comes before. The sets may be minimalist, but the riches of the performances stands out as a result.

A great 3D offering
Not quite as good as the first film, but this style of movie making screams out for 3D, and it didn't disappoint. (The only disappointment is that the first film is not available in 3D!)
