Great Product that works
Was not as hard to put on as I thought they would be. I've been running them for several months without any issues.

I Don't Know What they are talking about, Yes it grinds espresso!
7 of 7 found this helpful I bought this not expecting much, but was totally blown away. Maybe I got lucky and received a machine that was set up just perfect, but it rivals professional espresso grinders. I brought home a "pro-machine" from work to do a comparison. It is a lower end professional machine that sells for around $800 and has 65.5mm disc or flat burrs. I dialed and fidgeted with both machines until they were producing equal shot times and seems to be at the best espresso they could pull with the particular beans I was using. The Baratza was set at what it indicates as a 9 (anything less really is finer). The Baratza tasted better (I know that's subjective). So, I decided to put them under the microscope. I couldn't tell the two apart. I've included a shot of the two side by side. Both machines produced a very uniform grind, even at the microscopic level.
THE DOWNSIDE: Where the Encore falls short is build. It is a cheaper machine with a lot of plastic parts including the body. Because there is plastic in the burr area, the plastic, metal and spinning combination creates a static charge on the grinds. This is where people are probably mistaking the grinds not being "fine" enough. Yes, static cling will give a similar effect as uneven grind. You have to work at getting the ground espresso to not clump by gently pouring it into your portafilter basket (tap the side of the container with your finger to create a thin stream of grounds).
OVERALL: I would highly recommend this machine. I can't speak to its longevity, but it is capable of grinding espresso. If you can't deal with the static clumping, then pay $200+ more dollars to get a different machine.
