Alma's return; leave the lights on!
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (PlayStation 3)is the next installment in the F.E.A.R. series. I enjoyed the 1st game very much. And I was eagerly awaiting the 2nd one. I read all of the reviews which rated it as a very good title. I must say it has not disappointed. This a first person shooter in the horror genre as is the 1st F.E.A.R. The control mechanics are setup for standard 1st person shooter. Although it still amazes me more titles do not have completely map-able controls as this one does not. However they have several selections that map like most 1st person shooters. The controls are very responsive no sluggishness detected. One of the problems with most horror 1st person shooters is the darkness associated with the surroundings. That is not a problem with this title. Don't get me wrong it is dark but does not take away from the game play. Graphics are what we have come to expect from the PlayStation 3...very good. There is a huge selection of very good weapons. the only thing that I did not like about this is you can only carry 4 weapons at a time. The 1st fear let you carry up to 10 health packs...This one only lets you carry 3...and there is far less of them. I think the HUD is a step back. I don't like how armor is not displayed in terms of percentage. now it's a bar. Far harder to read just like health. There are no voice messages to listen to. I think this takes away from the game as well. Intel pickups are the same as before could be better. There are very few trophies in the game which I was very disappointed in. Basically you get a trophy for completing each level and that's about it. Multi-player does have allot of trophies. The game offers 20+ hours of game play which seems to be the standard today. The story is o.k. very few cut scenes. The voice audio is very low. So you need to have the volume way up to hear. Then everything else is to loud. This was a problem on the 1st fear as well. The actions is fast and plentiful. The 1st fear I thought started off to slow and didn't have enough enemies. Not so with Fear 2. One level they added that they could make a whole game out of was an armored suit level. Where you get to get inside the suit armed with guns and missiles and walk around and kill other armored suits and of course lay waste to soldiers. That was allot of fun. This game has auto save and are frequent. So if you die you will be pretty close to where you died. So you don't fill like your starting a level all over again. This is a mature rated game that does not hold back. Plenty of blood, cursing and dismemberment. So definitely understand what you are getting into when you purchase this. This game will not beat out Resident Evil 5 for game of the year but it's still a very solid 1st person shooter that's worth the price of admission.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Blu-Ray
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is based off the mega selling book by J.K. Rowlin. With this being the longest book from the Harry Potter series alot of stuff is left out both for the good and bad. However it seems as more movies are released in this series the more the films start sticking to the story line of the books. If your a fan of the Harry Potter books you should enjoy the films as long as you go into it not expecting the movie to cover the whole book. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a fun family oriented movie that the whole family will enjoy. The movie is somewhat lengthy due to trying to capture as much of what happens in the books as possible however it comes very short on doing this(the movies about 2 1/2 hrs in length). The Blu-Ray version is no different than the original DVD release other than the heightened color definition and resolution you would expect from Blu-Ray. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone with a family or some one who is just looking for a good story and don't want to read the 870 page book. As far as Blu-Ray is concerned you need to have a 720P or 1080P Hi-Def television to fully enjoy the clarity of this movie.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
This is perhaps the best first person shooter ever made. I love FPS however I hate the dual joystick movements. Now with the Wii it has definitevly resolved this issue. With the Wii you use the numchuck to move around and the Wii remote to aim and shoot. This is a major advancement in FPS. The over the shoulder camera angle works very well. This game offers about 50-60 hrs of original game play with a high level of reply value. Once you own this game you will not want to get rid of it. This game offers puzzles along with the FPS so you have to think and be able to solve puzzles with the clues that have been left. Lots of different weapons to dish of destruction and huge boss battles that will make you cringe and give you nightmares. The only things I didn't like was the limited amount of ammo and having to take care of Ashley while trying to fend off hordes of zombies. But even these very minor dislikes work well. All in all it's one of the greatest games I have ever played and I hope other third party game producers redo other titles like this one for the Wii.
