Lio by Mark Tatulli
I searched out this book of cartoons by Mark Tatulli because my seven year old great granddaughter, Maddy, was crazy about Lio. As a lifetime collector of cartoons, Lio had never been of interest to me, until Maddy began to explain why she liked the cartoon so much. She carries this book almost everywhere she goes, reading and rereading a page or two. Seeing every cartoon in this book, before giving it to Maddy, was a must. Every page is wordless, so grasping each situation visually is sometimes obvious and other times, kind of mind twisting. The book has a great cover illustration that clearly lets the viewer understand what Lio is all about. Many books by leading cartoonists have a limited number of cartoons reprinted, but Lio by Mark Tatulli has, seemingly, hundreds of them. I would strongly recommend this book to all cartoon lovers, young or old.

Silent But Deadly
I bought Mark Tatulli's first book of his cartoons, and I loved it. So when his second one came out, I had to have it. When I first saw Tatulli's cartoons, in the comic section of the Los Angeles Times, I passed over them quickly, as they were not easily understood. However, when my seven year old great granddaughter mentioned that Lio, by Mark Tatulli, was her favorite cartoon, I really had to look and find out why she was so drawn to it. After taking the time to understand Lio, I began to like it as well. The books are quality printing and the contents are so creative. I did buy both of them for my great granddauther, but I read them both before I gave them to her. Also, the price for the books were so reasonable.
