Great receiver
Sweet sound paired with PSB Alpha B1's. I wanted a simple 2 channel receiver for my home office; the yamaha delivers sweet sound. The tuner seems to be adequately sensitive, and actually does a better job than the big 7-channel piece in my living room. Hopefully Yamaha will continue to provide the market with such good stuff.

Superb inexpensive speakers
1 of 1 found this helpful Believe the magazine reviews. The Alpha B1's (mine driven by a Yamaha RX-497) provide sound for my home office. I had suffered with another inexpensive speaker for several years and found myself simply not listening. One of the main reasons people like PSB speakers is they don't get tired of them. Many other speakers have characteristics that catch your ear to begin with but become unpleasant over time. My living room system has Imagines; these little Alphas do a very creditable job in comparison for a small fraction of the price. As one magazine review noted, you should have a pair of these just to show the (overpriced tiny speakers that begin with B) owners what they're missing.

Absolutely wonderful subwoofer, FAR better than what you pay even at retail
Oh my. Had an PSB Alpha sub that's replaced by this HD10. Simple. You spend dollars, you get a difference. The Alpha for the dollars is just superb. Servied me well for 5-6 years. Needed something relatively small for my small room but wanted bigger bass output for 70's rock and dvd/blu ray flicks out of the Marantz dvd and Yamaha receiver. Like the Alpha, the output is incredibly sharp, incredible clear even for these old ears. You could hear the Alpha. Now, the room shakes, but absolutely sharp and clear.
I have the luxury to listen to everything up to quarter million dollar systems at my incredible local shop (can I mention them? Audio Alternative). I can come back from there and am perfectly happy with my Imagines and the 10. None better for anywhere even remotely close to the bux.
