Sleek Look and Easy Set-up (once installed)
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it's springtime in San Diego, and Ecobee hasn't really had to work yet, so I haven't seen the product truly tested. Once installed, the digital set-up is quite smooth and walks you through the process step-by-step.
The installation itself should have been easy (simply removing wires from the old thermostat and connecting them to the new. Unfortunately, this did not go as planned for me. In the transfer process, the fuse burned out in my thermostat (unkbenownst to me). As such, a week's worth of troubleshoot ensued (including ecobee support, an electrician, and an HVAC company). This really wasn't the fault of the Ecobee company; it came down to me not wanting to climb up into my attic to unplug the furnace simply to transfer a couple of low-voltage wires. The wires touched, the fuse blew, the process was stalled. Anyway, the fuse has been replaced and we are back in business!
Oh, and there is a $75 energy rebate through my city. Check to see if there is one offered through yours as well... saves on the initial cost.
