Alesis Compact 4-Pad Percussion and Sample-Triggering Instrument

unreliable with corss-talk problems

I have tried two generations of this item and them both are unreliable for performances. Hard hits caused the power to shut off on the first version, and hard hits to the bottom right pad of the new version cross talk to the selectors and change settings. I have the pad secured on a floor tom so that its almost motionless upon impact. Is the stand for this supposed to reduce cross-talk?
