2 Entertaining fare, 1 historical, another educational
Panic in the Year Zero:Ray Milland not only stars but also directs this little gem. Also co-starring a young Frankie Avalon and a very new actress on the scene, Joan Freeman, this “nuclear scare” movie follows a family of four who, while starting out on a camping vacation, experience the start of nuclear war. The step-by-step tactics that Milland uses to make sure they survive are useful even today. His character’s soul searching over the actions that he must take serves to bring a bit of 3 dimensional depth to the family interaction in this obviously B-movie fare. Since Milland directed this very down-to-earth piece I must assume he or someone whom he consulted is extremely knowledgeable in survival skills. It would be wise for the viewer to keep a pen and paper handy to jot down all the tricks he uses keep him and his family safe during the chaotic panic that arises after the bombs have gone off. The Last Man on Earth: This is the predecessor of Charlton Heston's "Omega Man". Vincent Price plays the lead character who is routinely plagued by zombies every night and tries to hang on to his sanity by working long hours in his laboratory trying to find a cure for the disease that has produced these unfortunates. It is scaled down from the Heston version and there is no "back story" for any of the zombie characters but it is interesting to see the original. The Land That Time Forgot/The People That Time Forgot:based on a story by Edgar Rice Burroughs' this is Doug McClure fodder that, while a bit entertaining, is just a venue that allows him to escape from Western sit-com he was involved in at the time. The sequel seems to have given him a means of income as he got older. There is no in-depth acting here but he does come off better in both films than the rest of the two casts. If you like lightweight sci-fi, Jules Verne type stories, with Harryhausen-type creatures (only not as good), you will enjoy these two films

Very pretty little book, nothing new it it that I did not already know, doesn't go into depth and no herbal receipes. Nice for the shelf.

Will do the job but is a bad design
As with anything that uses a round bolt on round piping, all the bolts loosen up with use. The top resistance adjustment bolt never holds the desired resistance and loosens as you pedal. If you are willing to tighten everything every time you pedal and even during your exercise session then this is a cheap little machine that will do the job. I know it will get me through some muscle atrophy after an injured knee and hip. I will keep using it to get through the winters of ice and snow that keep me pinned in. Also good for use with the arms.
