pinecone valance
I have the pinecone/woodland valance over my kitchen window. It is a nice touch to a drab kitchen.
We had an accordion fabric shade but over the years it got all spattered from being above the sink.
The new valance is high up enough that it won't get as dirty and is easily washable in case it does get spattered.

small plantlets of lenten roses
50 very small, single stems with 1 set of leaves about 4 inches tall. Some came without leaves.
I planted as soon as arrived and at least 10 died right away. It will take about 2 years to grow big enough to transplant to preferred site. So I am growing inside away from summer heat for now in a big pan.
If the survivors grow I should have 30-40 plants to transplant. The plants came with a clipping with
instructions to grow. Since full grown plants cost about $20 each, it will be a good deal if at least 3-4 survive and I should get much more than that by the end. It will just take a long time.

Treating myself to a Nespresso Machine
Super fast and easy way to make coffee and espresso with the Vertuo Plus system.
It even came with a box of coffee samples to try.
I had a Nespresso machine in a hotel and decided I liked the flavor and style of coffee.
Now I have my own. The pods are about $1-1.50 depending on which coffee which is
more expensive than K cups and coffee by the pound. However, I only drink 2 cups of coffee
a day and so it's a nice treat for myself.
The downside is that the Vertuo pods are not usually available in grocery stores, except
for a few by Starbucks. So I am ordering pods online via Ebay, Amazon or Nespresso.
