A well written and enligtening
While I am only three chapters into the book, it has already proven to be enlightening. It's nice to learn how some counties became "all white" counties and to learn about the demographic history of various areas. Like the author, I too am from the deep South and vividly remember watching the protest that turned violent during the march of 1987 in Forsyth, GA. The author has done an excellent job of researching the facts, connecting the dots, and presenting the information from an unbiased perspective. Most people have long forgotten the horrors and atrocities that were committed against Black Americans and many today would be downright embarrassed by the things that happened and still are happening in some parts of our country today. I would consider this book a must read for anyone who wants a realistic and factual example of what social injustices Black people went through in the early 20th century. The perfect book for a sociology student.
