Mac Davis Thirty-Six All-Time Greatest

The hits and deep tracks

I was looking for a Mac Davis Greatest Hits CD, which are not easy to find. This one has the hits, plus many album tracks & not as big singles on 3 CD's. I'd recommend it if you can get it at a reasonable price. A one disc greatest hits may suffice for some listeners, but release has all his Columbia label hits, plus a few of his big hits on Casablanca in the early 80's.

Essential Mamas & Papas Collection

This was the 1st CD ever issued of The Mamas & The Papas, in 1986. What makes it very unique is that it contains several different mixes that are ONLY found here. DEDICATED TO THE ONE I LOVE has a different mix, especially heard in Michelle Phillips' opening of the song, and the closing of the song has harmonies by Cass & the group that are closer to the different 45 single mix . Plus MY GIRL is really different, having more of a vibrant mix of vocals by Cass & Denny and a longer fade. And LOOK THROUGH MY WINDOW has a longer fade out too. I prefer the stupendous sound on this CD of these rarities, as well as their biggest hits like CALIFORNIA DREAMIN', MONDAY MONDAY, CREEQUE ALLEY, I SAW HER AGAIN, WORDS OF LOVE, DREAM A LITTLE DREAM OF ME, and the rest. Not much bio or photos in the booklet, but the rare mixes make it an essential CD to have .

First 2 Union Gap Albums + Bonus Tracks

This CD is a necessity for all Gary Puckett & The Union Gap fans. It has their classic 1st 2 albums in full with every track, plus the hit singles that came after these 2 albums, as bonus tracks. All their biggest hits are here, but what is really essential are the full albums that contain many great songs. The 1st album not only has WOMAN WOMAN, but an uptempo song with horns that Gary really nails - M'LADY [ not the Sly & The Family Stone song ]. Also has more blue eyed soul greats like PAINDROPS, BELIEVE ME, I WANT A NEW DAY, and more. I always liked their original material better than their covers of the hits of the day, which are good for Gary's vocals, but not nearly as great as the hits & original songs that they recorded. A super CD LOADED with timeless songs!
