Microphone contact too loose after one month. T
Microphone contact too loose after one month. The plug worked great but after a month of use about 3x per week, the plugin contacts loosened up and the mic makes no connection no matter how much I jiggle it.

Lasts for years
Have had this set for many years. Always clear signal and voice, including speakerphone. The only problem has been when a handset fell into a sink of water. Excellent use for intercom purposes too. e.g, When doing home repairs and two people need to be in two different parts of the house.

Some tips on using it
1 of 1 found this helpful Have had this coffeemaker for a few years and have been fully satisfied with it. I agree with others about the poor design of the unit with respect to putting water into it. I have figured out a couple of things to bypass those weaknesses.
* On an empty water bottle, I marked the water levels for different cup quantities. I then use that water bottle to fill the reservoir. This overcomes the coffeemaker's lack of an external water level indicator, and the narrow spout of the water bottle makes it easy to pour water into the reservoir. I only make a couple of cups of coffee at a time so I can use a small water bottle.
* Charcoal filters. I bought a bunch at once. It saved money and also I know I always have a spare filter. They are optional anyway. When I change one, I put a little note on the fridge with the date so I know when to change it again.
Other observations:
* Really, really like the "1 to 4 cups" setting. It makes a difference with flavor.
* Paperless. Very nice to no longer have to buy paper filters.
* Gold tone filter. The gold tone wore away within a few months. Unnecessary anyway, in my opinion.
* The coffeemaker recently has started to make a gurgling sound when brewing, like it's low on water. I don't think that's good and expect it is evaporating too much water. Flavor not affected--yet. Self-cleaned it but no help. Am researching to figure what the issue is. Cuisinart's web site lacks a knowledgebase or forums to ask questions--that's unfortunate and unexpected given the size of the company.
Finally, it makes coffee very consistently. Other coffeemakers I've used have provided inconsistent flavors even when using exact recipes. I'm not an expert but I think the brewing design of the unit (and paperless filter?) are factors.
